City Council Member Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights) co-hosted the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Block Party in Jackson Heights over the weekend with Funk legend Bootsy Collins.

The bus, which started NYC residency last week, is a mobile recording and production video where young people learn how to write, record, and produce radio-quality songs and videos. Over the weekend, folks got a chance to tour the bus on 78th Street Plaza during the block party.

“I was excited to co-host the second Lennon Bus block party on 78th Street Plaza with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, funk legend Bootsy Collins and Council Member Julissa Ferreras-Copeland,” said Dromm.  “The Lennon Bus is giving young people the gift of music in their own unique and effective way.  I am pleased to have allocated funding to support their efforts. The lives of children across the country have been positively impacted by the Lennon Bus’ good work.”

The free event featured live musical performances from PS 69 students, DJ sets by exciting local talent, surprise giveaways and special guests.  The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a registered 501(c)(3) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It is funded in part by Yoko Ono Lennon.
