When it comes to being a fierce advocate in closing Rikers Island, City Council Member Rory I. Lancman (D-Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, Fresh Meadows, Hillcrest, Jamaica Estates, Briarwood, Parkway Village, Jamaica Hills, Jamaica) is at the top of the list.

And last night, Lancman took on Jim Quinn, Senior Executive Assistant District Attorney with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, to debate debate the facts and the merits of closing Rikers.

The Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association sponsored the argumentative discussion, which was held at Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills.

Check out Lancman’s verbal jousting ability as he responds to Quinn’s claim that  Kalief Browder’s suicide wasn’t connected to his stay at Rikers Island
