Average Man: Hurricane Maria Anniversary

As a Puerto Rican, this was a tough strip to put together. Originally I had a full script and had even started drawing the panels, but the more I did the angrier I got over Trump’s recent horrible comments, the inadequate response, etc.

I know that there were many FEMA workers that worked hard in Puerto Rico. My anger is for those above their heads.

The higher ups at FEMA can’t use the excuse that Puerto Rico is an island a thousand miles from the mainland, because it’s not like the it became an island a few years ago. So the agency wasn’t properly prepared, much like it wasn’t when Hurricane Katrina hit years ago.

Back to the strip: I think this single panel strip–a first for me–sums up how I feel.
